More Prezzies for me!!! Yay

I worked as a Marketing and PR Intern at an online retail company and fell in love with a lot of the pieces but was unable to afford it. Now that there is a sale, I can get all that I need at a discounted price. Cant wait till I receive my first pay check. Here are a few of the items I will be treating myself too in the near future. I think I deserve it, don't know why but I really believe I do; and that's good enough for me.

Love, love, love the colours. Makes me look forward to a summer that may never come.

This risque mini dress will be best worn on some leggings, I'm just not 'brave' enough to wear it on nothing. Loving the hood and its reversable!

Had to get this light knit for those London summer days that are more chili than breezy,

Had to throw in a couple of vests. So Summery.

And for desert, I few Silver bangles. It was love at first sight so I just had to!

All coming to a total of: £a very reasonable price. Love sales. Cant wait to treat myself. I've got goosebumps all over. Is that normal?

Not to worry though, my blog still has a special place in my heart. Pictures of new bags will be posted shortly, I also need to fin the time to shop and get more supplies.

Well back to the drawing board.

WOW WOW WOW

Miss R, a very good friend of mine recently came to my house, casually flaunting her new Tilly Twister bag form Paul's Boutique. It is absolutely fabulous, especially if you're into bright colours and large bags. Cost a sweet £80. My bags will soon be costing that much so snap em' up while I'm still undiscovered.

She cleverly accessorised hers with a few adorable Kokeshi Dolls.

Lace 2010

Currently working on a new bag and frame shape for the first time. Just praying for knowledge and wisdom to get it right the first time! Its going well so far. But while I design and sew away, feast your eyes on this.

Lace 2010

My sources (tv, internet and my eyes) tell me that lace is in this season. The 20s vintage style has been revamped and given a modern twists. Once again proving that fashion is on a never ending cycle and will inevitably repeat itself. I wonder what twist will be put on it in the next 80 years??

So of course I couldnt let the opportunity pass without releasing my own edit of the trend. Lace is in this season and everyone has jumped upon the frilly band wagon, As have I.

Presenting the Lace Mini Clutch by Wemi Designs.

1st day at Work, received my 1st two orders!

Got to work today, worked on strategy and marketing, ate Thai for lunch... and oh yeah, met these two girls who fell in love with my bags and ordered 3. Can't wait to get cracking on the, but first, MUST GO SHOPPING!
Hopefully, I'll be able to have them done over the week end. Oh so much to do so little time.

My new temporary desk. Very plain I know, I was going for the minimalist style (yeah I just couldn't be bothered to sproose it up.)

On my desk you can see MY LOVELY LOVELY BAG, laptop, water, phone, notepad and the box of Thai I had for lunch. Very nice.

We also had a company called Jollof Pot come in and give us a taste of what the have to offer. Their style is Ghana meets London with weird and wondeful creations such as 'Jollof Balls' (I'll say no more)

PS. my camera phone takes all the blame apologises for the bad angles and bad resolution.

Hot of the Press!

This is a bow, By undoing the bow, the bag can be made larger to offer more room if needed. Beauty and practicality in one.

Finally created my big tote like Nigerian fabric bag. This took me ages, primarily because I am new to this, this was my first one and also because it is a big bag. Unlike the clutches I am used to, it was a larger project. But I am proud to present it and finally have it completed.

PS. sry about the bad lighting and awkward angles. Maybe I should take a course in photography.

OUCH!!

Sewing when I'm tired = needles in my fingers=ouchhhh! I hate it but I must complete this bag before I sleep. I hate leaving projects unfinished. I just want to see the final result without bleeding too much. Is that too much to ask?!

.......................................Ok I feel much better after that.

The Task Begins!

Well I've set my self the task of creating a bag that is not a clutch bag. Well its taken me forever to cut the pieces to the exact measurements I need them to be (I detest pattern cutting) But year. Here is a display of all the ingredients I'm going to be working with. So let the fun commence!!

New Materials!!! Yay!

Finally found a shop that sells African fabric in smaller measurements. Normally you would have to buy 6 yards to enable you to make a three-piece attire. Yet I make bags and I need 1 yard corn flamdit!

But anyway, after my travels in London, I found the poifect shop and hey presto, I got a few just to play with. If I like what I make, then I will in deed purchase more.

Here's a little sneak peek of some of the fabrics I have.

Thoughts on me little hobby so far.

Well the bag making craze has slowed down now (if you can call 6 bag a craze), Its increasingly expensive to purchase frames, especially as I am completing an internship that has nothing what so ever to do with crafts. Today was such a busy day. I had delivered a job application to Bedfordshire and had an interview at London at 1pm.
Doesn’t sound so challenging but I lost my money on the way to the station and my bank card went bizzerk. I had to return home and sort it all out by phone and then begin my journey again. All in all I was an hour and 15 minutes late.
I caught up on the creative aspects of my work while on the rail to London and they were such a hit at the organisation thank God. He gives me all my good ideas you see.

I just want to take this moment to thank God for taking care of me in every single way I need, and in ways I didn’t know I needed. What a close friend I have in Jesus. Its more than I could have imagined and hoped for.

New Bag Design

Yay, made a new bag shape. It took me a while to work out the calculations, which was quite odd with me being a math genius and all that. Well the picture as well as pictures of the other bags will be uploaded asap as promised previously. As for now, I'm off to make another bag I dsicovered on another blog.

Wish me luck.x

Back

Been off for a while thinking about my bag making hobby and what step to take next; take a course or just continue to learn by trial and error. Its just like me to pick a hobby that costs money. Why couldn't I just have a regular hobby like most people, e.g. watching television, eating, sleeping, even breathing, that can be fun.

Well till I do decide, Ill just continue with the T&E approach.

Till next time.

Finally made a Nigerian bag

Well technically, not a Nigerian bag per-say, but bag made out of Ankara. A Nigerian fabric I believe.

I pleated the bag which didn't take too long, but I did find it annoying.

Cant wait to make more, just need more money!!!

Need more of it now.

Bag No2

This bag was made just by repeating what I knew and adapting the pattern, which i created myself. I absolutely LOVE the fabric (Thanks Mum!). I don't have much of it left but I hope to make something really special with the rest.

The Interfacing made it wrinkle however :( not nice.
But once again, I promise to upload better pictures!

1st Post... 1st Bag!

Well with this being my first ever post, I thought it only sensible to display my 1st purse, as that is the main point of my blog.

Created this by following and online tutorial and praying that I complete it well, and hay presto.. well after a couple of hours, my purse was complete!

I personally sourced the Fabric from Mozambique, Southern Africa, when I went there to volunteer at an Orphanage with Iris Ministries. Loved it, Loved it, Loved it! And I made sure I brought the fabric back so that I could have a piece of wonderful Pemba back home with me to 'sunny' London. How excited and proud I was and still am.

...Ok this is my first time posting a blog erm, how do I post a picture with this? Ill figure it out.................................................................................
Yay! I figured it out. Wasn't rocket science though.

P.S. Sorry about the bad quality of the picture, it was taken with my camera phone.
I promise to upload better pictures soon.
